Not necessarily. We start with an assessment: the panel, the earthing and the condition of the circuits. What is sound is kept, what needs redoing is redone, and the quote sets it out line by line.
An old panel gives poor protection to people and appliances. A new panel, with suitable RCDs and every circuit labelled, can be read at a glance and cuts the right circuit at the right moment.
A circuit breaker that trips often, a socket that heats up or turns black, a smell of burning, old pin-type fuses, no earth: all good reasons to have the installation checked.
Often, yes. Cables can run through existing conduit, skirting boards, false ceilings or discreet mouldings: we choose the least invasive route.
